…don`t write a blog today?

Last night I got an interesting email from an excellent student.  For homework she wrote an imitation of Survival English 1 (Can I…?/Could you…? …してもいい？/…してくれる?)  In her homework she wrote

“Can I not go?”

which I didn`t understand.  彼女

私は行かなくていい？

と言おうとしたんだけど、”Can I…?” の否定文はまったく違う形になるから。

私行かなくていい？と言うのは、

Is it okay if I don`t go?

Once again English and Japanese are REALLY different languages.

So let`s practice this simple and useful phrase:

今夜料理しなくてもいい？　=   Is it okay if I don`t cook tonight?

電話しなくてもいい？ =  Is it okay if I don`t call you?

全部食べなくてもいい？　=  Is it okay if I don`t eat it all?
