In English you can compliment your friends and co-workers with this phrase:

一般的にネクタイが似合うって表現したい時は主語を “You” に変えて似合うものが数えられるものだったら複数形を使います。 前置詞も変わります。”on”が → “in”に変わる For example…

In English is…

Chill.     (この “chill” は動詞です。命令形です。)

or

Be cool.

彼はいつも冷静だね　というのは・・・

He is always so cool.     or     He is always so chill.     (この「chill」と「cool」は形容詞です。)

「皆さん、冷静になりましょう」　というのは・・・

Everyone, please be calm.     (叮嚀な表現ね)

♥Today was a tough day, wasn`t it?!  I saw on TV that there were long lines everywhere♥

So this blog`s key phrase is…

long lines !!

Interestingly, in the UK and Australia 行列 is “queue” (キューって発音するよ＾_ -) but Americans never say “queue” and, well, I`m American so I`d rather teach American English. 

Let`s practice:

I hate long lines.     (行列が嫌い)

This line is getting really long!     (長蛇の列になってる！) 

People who live in Tokyo are used to standing in long lines.     (東京に住んでる人は長い列に並ぶのに慣れてるよ。)

In English 「余震」 is “after shock.”  There have been a lot!  So let`s use the plural form “after shocks.”

And if you want to say 「どんどん　＋　形容詞　に・く　＋　なっている」 in English you can use this pattern…

主語 + be 動詞 + getting + 形容詞er and 形容詞er　For example…

The aftershocks are getting smaller and smaller.

Here are some more examples…

It`s getting warmer and warmer.     (どんどん暖かくなってる。)

Tommy is getting taller and taller.    

The music is getting louder and louder.

主語が複数形だったら「is] のかわりに「are」を使います・・・for example….

The aftershocks are getting smaller and smaller.

Those kids are getting cuter and cuter.

The leaves are getting greener and greener.

And when the adjective has two or more syllables use this pattern (形容詞の音節の数は二つ以上の場合はこのパターンを使います):

主語 + be動詞 + getting more and more 形容詞     For example…

The book I`ve been reading is getting more and more interesting.     (最近読んでる本はどんどん面白くなってる。)

Also…

This blog is getting more and more complicated.     (このブログはどんどん複雑になってる・・・(ー。－；))

あ！　あと！　もう一つのルールがあります！　　「ly」で終わる形容詞の場合は音節二つ以上があっても “more and “more + 形容詞” じゃなくて、”_____ier and _____ier を使います。　For example…

I`ve been getting busier and busier.     (どんどん忙しくなってる)

Tina is getting prettier and prettier.

Wow!  That was a terrible earthquake yesterday!  Two of my favorite students canceled their lessons this morning so it wasn`t a very happy day for me today.  But noone I know got injured so I am thankful.

I got many, many emails yesterday asking me if I was okay and if I was hurt.  So today`s phrase is…

In English you can say…

or
