今まで in English is…

so far.

だいたい “so far” って言ったら現在完了形を使うのでちょっと練習した方が良いです。

では、使って見ましょう! Here is an example…

A)  How many people are coming to the party?     (何人パーティに来るの?)

B)  So far 6 people have made reservations.      (今で6人が予約した。)

That`s all for today.  Catch you later!

今日のブログは昨日の「いくつに見える?」のブログと関係があります。 だから、昨日の key phrase を見てみましょう・・・

A) How old do I look?

B) You look 28.

A)  How old does Jose look?

B) He looks 45.

数字は形容詞だから “like” は要らない。 今日の key phrase も見てください・・・

「楽しそう!」 は・・・

That looks fun!

“Fun” も形容詞だから “like” が要らない・・・けど、この文章を見てください・・・

That looks like a fun class.     (楽しそうな授業ですね。)

“A fun class” は名詞句だから “like” が入ります。

名詞節も “like” が要ります。 たとえば・・・

That looks like it was a fun class.

この三つの文章は全部 Real English です。全てのパターンを練習して下さい!

さあ、先月GENIEで撮った写真を見て今日の key phrase を使ってみましょう!

A) Who is that girl?

B) I don`t know, but she looks strong!   (形容詞の場合は “like” が要らない)

It looks like she can beat Jose easily.     (名詞節の場合は “like” が要る)

A)  Where is that?

B)  It looks like the Aloha Room at Genie.     (名詞句にも “like” が付きます。)

Okay, that`s all for this week!  Next week why don`t you come to Genie and Enjoy Real English with me, Tae, and Jose?  And you can try beating us at arm wrestling, too…でも俺には勝てねぇぞ!  あははぁ~!!

☆She can beat Jose easily というのは彼女はホセに簡単に勝てるみたいってことです。

いくつに見える?

Posted: under phrase.
5月 13th, 2011

There are a few ways to say 「いくつに見える?」 in English.  It depends on the subject so first let`s practice subject/verb agreement.  Repeat after me…

I do…We do…You do…He does…She does…It does…They do….

So 「私はいくつに見える?」 in English is…

How old do I look?                (→_→)

Well…what do you think? The correct answer is….

You look about 25. (^_ -)

And for the third person…

How old does he look?                         (→_→)

The correct answer is…

He looks about 45.

What do you think?

By the way, Jose is a new part-time teacher at Genie.  Please come to Genie and Enjoy English with me, Jose, and Tae someday soon!  Catch you later!!
