Today`s simple and useful phrase is…

the same as 何々

Here are some examples:

Example 1

A) How tall is Nancy?     （ナンシーの身長はどれぐらい？）

B) The same as me.

Example 2

A) What`s the temperature in Las Vegas right now?     (今ラスベガスの気温はどれぐらいですか？)

B) About the same as LA. (ロスと同じぐらい。）

Example 3

A) How much did your watch cost?    (その時計いくらしたの？)

B)  About the same as your house. (お前の家と同じぐらい。)

The weekend is here!  It`s time to relax and enjoy your free time…and…maybe…it`s time for a massage?!?!  So here are some useful end-of-the-week phrases…

get a massage (マッサージしてもらう」

I wanna get a massage. (マッサージしてもらいたい。)

give a massage (マッサージしてあげる・マッサージする)

Here are some example sentences…

Tonight I got a great massage from a great girl!! (今夜すごくいい女に超気持ちいいマッサージしてもらった！)

Tonight Hanako gave Tarou a great massage!! (今夜花子は太郎に気持いいマッサージしてあげた！)

Could you give me a massage? (マッサージしてくれる？)

Hi everybody!  I`m not gonna waste any time today.  Our simple and useful phrase for today is…

What a waste! (もったいない！)

It`s a very common expression.  You can also be more specific by using this pattern:

It is a waste of + time/money/energy

ということで・・・

“It`s a waste of time“ means 「時間の無駄」、

“It`s a waste of money” means 「お金の無駄」、

and, “It`s a waste of energy” means 「体力の無駄」。

Here is a very easy and very useful expression:

Just a moment! (ちょっと待ってってことね)

Many students often say, “Wait,” but “Wait” can sound quite rude so it`s much better to say, “Just a moment.”   生徒さんで「ちょっと待って」って言おうとする時 “Wait” って言ってしまう人が多いけど、「Wait」ってかなり失礼に聞こえるから今日の言い回しがとても大事だと思います！ “Wait” より “just a moment” の方がずっと良いと思います。で、もうちょっと丁寧に言いたい時最後に”please” を言えばいいんですね。 So let`s practice…

Hi everybody!  Do you like clothes?  I do!  I like wearing casual clothes but sometimes I like to dress up, too.  How about you?

ということで・・・今日のブログのテーマは・・・

What kind of clothes do you usually wear? (服装はいつもどんな感じですか？)

Bob:  “I like to dress casually.” (動詞の “dress” + 副詞の “casually”)  →_→

or…“I like to wear casual clothes.” (動詞の “wear” + 名詞句の “casual clothes”) →_→

…”but sometimes I like to dress up.”  (dress up って動詞で意味はカタカナの「ドレスアップする」と一緒だと思います。)

or…”but sometimes I like to wear a shirt and tie.”  (動詞の “wear” + 何を着るのが好きなのか具体的に言う。)　→_ →

Jose:  “I like to wear business casual clothes.”  (business casualって言うのは「クールビズ」に近いけど季節は関係がないです。)　→_→
