Happy New Year, everybody! And…ただいま！  In English that’s ｀I’m back!´ Or, 自分のお家に帰ってきたら｀I’m home´って言います。 And when starting a conversation or in the middle of a conversation you can add ｀just´ before the past tense verb to mean 何々したばかり。For example…

I just got back is…「帰ってきたばかり」。This useful phrase is very, very simple.  Just use this pattern:

主語 ＋ just ＋ 過去形の動詞

Here are some other examples…

I just ate. (食べたばかり。)

We just met. (会ったばかり。)

I just finished work.

I just woke up.

Mom just made dinner.
